Comments (as published by SSU on the Greytsounds website):

"Granular" Emulations... Well... Sorta. We might have called this "tubular", or maybe even "awesome emulations", but we settled on "granular" because let's face it-no one knows what granular synthesis sounds like! What our bank does deliver is some of the most unique, hard hitting wavestation sounds around. These patches use the unique wavesequencing and vector capabilities of the Wavestation while providing that critical, often overlooked item so important to working musicians: sounds you can use. These sounds will liven up your music with a distinctive touch regardless of your musical style.
Rock, jazz, fusion, new age and soundtrack composers will all find a wealth of new ideas in this creatively stimulating bank. Sounds include "Liquid Sky", "Cyber Bassix", "Choice Strings", "Stratosphere" and many more. Totally "granular", dude!

Comments (as published by SSU in their 1992-93 catalogue):

This collection emulates the advanced "Wavesequencing" (Granular Synthesis Method) capabilities of the NED Synclavier. We have utilized every nuance of all available Wavestation modulators to provide you with maximum animation and effects routing via the controllers. These sounds are useful for all styles of music - rock, jazz, fusion, new age and soundrack work. Sounds include "Liquid Sky", "Cyber Bassix", "Choice Strings", "Silk Roads", "Stratosphere" and more

Performances comments (as published by SSU in their booklet joined with the ROM card):

00. Frippertronics: wave sequence reminiscent of King Crimson with distortion on MW. Use JS to determine balance between the two musical sequences.

01. Mt. Everest: big breathy pad with bell attack and delayed wave sequence.

02. News Update: pad with S/H wave sequence, MW adds richness, use aftertouch for filter sweep.

03. Stringency: rich chamber strings with timbral motion on sustain, and movie type synth vibrato on MW.

04. Purple Haze: classic Hendrix lead with wha-wha. Try using a lot of pitch bend. Sorry, no MW since all modulators have been used.

05. B3 Assault: authentic Hammond B3 with percussive attack. Use MW or aftertouch for Leslie speaker simulation. Like a real Leslie, this effect takes time to speed up and slow down.

06. Opium Of Masses: a nicely animated film-type pad, good for intros and endings. Sorry, no MW.

07. Brassier: a classical brass section, just like Wolfgang used to make. With vibrato on aftertouch and reverb amount on MW.

08. Green Giant: big analog polysynth with filter sweep on aftertouch and MW.

09. Paulina: sexy pad with bell attack. The MW and aftertouch add more reverb. This sound takes a nice 30 seconds to evolve. We hope it is as good for you as it was for us.

10. Synthetic I.Q.: zany spaced out computer stuff. Just try it and see for yourself.

11. Electric Keys: percussive FM type keyboard sound.  Use MW for more chorus.

12. Symetry: this is intended for soloing - the trick is in the MW. Use MW sweeps for fast solo effect or choose a MW setting for different note intervals.

13. Attack Art: clicky pad with evolving timbres. Use JS to balance between click and pad. MW speeds up rotary effect.

14. Lead 2 Gold: leadsynth sound with filter sweep on MW and aftertouch.  Use VS to achieve different timbres.

15. Polycrystal: analog poly synth mixed up with crisp digital evolving timbres. Use JS for different sounds.

16. Bass Meant: mini Moog bass.

17. Poly Pizz.: pizzicato string type attack w/polysynth pad. Radical filter sweep on aftertouch and MW. Use JS for different polysynth timbres.

18. Air Bass Duo: mini Moog type bass on lower half of keyboard, with breathy synth on upper half. Filter sweep on aftertouch and MW.

19. Majestic: mellow synthpadding with somewhat harsh attack. Use VS to adjust amount of attack. Filter sweep on MW and aftertouch.

20. Harmo Guitar: 5ths guitar solo with fedback. Reverb affected by MW.  JS A gives unharmonized guitar. Slow sweeping to other vector positions can simulate a feedback effect. Fast movements to each vector position while soloing gives crazed guitarist effect.

21. Low Brassyn: low brass synth, typical R&B riff stuff. Mostly found on low end of dance mixes.

22. Peer Pressure: flowing analog wavesequence. Filter sweep on MW and aftertouch. Modify attack by using JS.

23. Pluck Breath: plucked breathy sound with violent surges of sound color. Use JS to adjust attack.

24. Stratosphere: Stratocaster guitar attack with ethereal pad. Good for trippy Led Zeppelin style stuff. Us MW to increase trippiness.

25. Orchestra Blitz: the everpopular orchestra hit!

26. Analog Unison: classic monophonic synthesizer lead instrument. Filter sweep supplied on aftertouch and MW, comes with 20 year warranty.

27. Mod & AT Poly: a very espressive and anlog synth, good for padding, rhythmic comping, and out front leads. Use MW to set initial brightness and use aftertouch for independant filter sweeps. Adjust VS for different timbral variation.

28. Tubular Dude: tubular bell (not a Valley  expression), with harshness on the MW. Best played in the higher registers.

29. Lazer In A 4est: an angular wavesequence pad, and a good way to spend the afternoon.

30. Technology: repetitive bassline on lower keyboard, with solo synth up top.  Pitch, MW and aftertouch affect solo synth only.

31. Cathedral: church organ. Pipe stops are affected by MW.

32. Poly Gone: swooshy polysynth with resonance sweep. Use MW to set brightness, aftertouch for filter sweep, JS to alter timbre.

33. ModWheel Attaks: digital synth with 65 different attacks for the price of one. Selection is accessed via the MW. Use JS to adjust level between attack and sustain. Keep JS at position C to just hear attacks. Useful for MIDI stacking with other keyboards.

34. Oxygen: flanged morsels for the mentally deranged or those who just to venture into new domains.

35. Liquid Sky: percussive swirling sustained synth.  Use JS for attack adjustemment. MW for brightness setting and aftertouch for brightness sweep.

36. Striking Breath: majestic percussive attack with adverse changes in timbre when held down. Brightness on MW. Use JS for level of attack.

37. Metal Fatigue: distorted guitar lead with built in solo assistance on MW.  Use fast,  slow, short, long, jerky, smooth, partial and full sweeps for varied solo technique.

38. Choice Strings: synthy strings with a large selection of attacks by setting the MW to a desired position. Volume is low because of oscillator assignements - turn it up!

39. Woody Allen: tuned percussive wood blocks. Timbral adjust with VS, a multi tap delay on MW.

40. Silk Roads: Rhodes electric piano w/silky strings. Reverb and brightness adjust w/MW, filter sweep on aftertouch.

41. Clavintense: hard-hitting clavinette with wha-wha pedal on MW and aftertouch.

42. Syn From Hell: plucked sweeping synth with reverb on MW.

43. RHODES: classic Fender Rhodes electric piano  with reverb adjustment on MW.

44. Individualistic: FM and analog mixed lead sound. Select brightness with MW or use for filter swells. Vibrato on aftertouch.

45. Rock Organ: cruchy distorted Hammond B3 organ. Deep Purple lives!

46. Brass Polish: synthetic sax and bone section. EQ and reverb on MW.

47. Astral Wizard: a soft timbral mosaic. Reverb on MW. Volume is low because of oscillator assignements - turn it up!

48. Cyber Bassix: heavy hitting digital bass with Moog Taurus type sustain. Vibrato on aftertouch, with resonance on MW. Use JS for variation.

49. THXtc.: the famous Dolby THX theatre intro. (Hit at middle C).
